Arising from an area of land with substantial ruinous remains of a former cottage, The Bowhouse is a site-sensitive contemporary home designed to frame the countryside setting.
An open plan living space that focuses on entertainment with access and views to the open countryside was at the heart of our Client's brief for their new home. Conceived in a H-shape, complimentary of surrounding building forms, the central zinc roofed living space is flanked by slate roofed wings containing private, parking and operational functions. This configuration allows for the best use of the site, creating spaces that blur the boundaries between interior, garden and the countryside beyond in stone, timber and glass volumes.
The double height living space provides spaces to entertain whilst also offering subtle separation for semi-private areas. The double height nature of the living space spills into the master bedroom with both spaces affording access and views to the garden and countryside.
