Careful renovation and alteration of a B-listed apartment to provide a comfortable family home.
Designed initially for two occupants, and completed as they welcomed their first child, the apartment was conceived with a flexible layout that celebrated the architectural quality of the period property. A social space for entertaining was at the heart of our Clients requirements so an open plan living space was proposed to the front drawing room with an inclusively laid out kitchen. The former room which contained the kitchen and bathroom had been compromised to accommodate the two, the space was altered back to the original proportions with the unsympathetic additions removed with the room then becoming an additional bedroom to the property. This allowed the former bedroom to be transformed into an informal lounge space which could later be converted into back into a bedroom when required. The bathroom was relocated to an internal box room and a shower was sensitively added to the WC located off the hallway.
A caring design that celebrates the buildings generous Georgian proportions, tall windows and original fireplaces with a modern traditional interior.
